What’s in Our Name? The Meaning of “Greater Friendship”

Our name is more than just a label on our building—it is the foundational promise of our ministry. We believe that true friendship is defined by the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Human relationships have limits, but Christ extended the greatest friendship possible to us on the cross. When you walk through our doors, you are not stepping into a crowd of strangers, you are joining a church family bound together by that same “Greater Love.”

Our Pastor & First Lady

First Lady, Lorraine Davidson & Pastor, Dr. Larry W. Davidson have been happily married for  over 40 years. Pastor and First Lady Davidson love being parents to seven adult children and their spouses; Larry L. Davidson, Lebbaeus (Alexandria) Davidson, Lanette (Lance) Kroninger, Loretta (Ali) Abdul-Ghani, Landon (Amber) Davidson, Lauran Davidson and Lauraine Davidson.

They are the grandparents of nine, Lebbaeus Jr, Livia, Lennox, Levi, Lexington, Lorelei, and Landon Jr., Lelahni, and Lilly. In October of 1994, Rev. Larry W. Davidson was called to Greater Friendship to help Rev. Davis for health reasons. In October of 1995, Rev. Davis resigned from the church after 35 years of service. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Rev. Davis recommended Rev. Davidson to the church to become their next pastor.

We unanimously accepted Rev. Davis’ recommendation; and Rev. Larry W. Davidson was installed as Pastor on November 4, 1995. Pastor Davidson continues to lead this congregation up the Kings Highway. Rev Davidson is focusing the church on taking a holistic view of introducing the Word of God by guiding the church into becoming a Family Training Center.

When families allow God to direct their lives, they grow stronger, and communities improve. Sis. Davidson holds a Master of Education in School Counseling, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Associates degree in Early Childhood Development, and a Certificate of Management. She enjoys her job as the lead school counselor at Navarre Middle School. Pastor Davidson holds a Masters of Education in Teaching, a Masters of Business Administration, a business degree, and an associates degree. He is currently the Dean of Students at Wilson Elementary School.
